Townes 1969/1971 : "The Genera of Ichneumonidae" (4 vol.)
===========
Pimplinae =
Ephialtinae in Townes
Apechthis =
Ephialtes in Townes
* You possess the 4 vol. of
Townes,
The Veins's characteristics of Wings (size & shape) and the surface's aspect of Thorax & Tergites, you allowes to identify the sub-Family of our capture : A part of the sub-Family of Pimplinae (Tribe Pimplini )
* You do not possess the 4 vol. of
Townes,
You use the keys that we sent on our Forum, entitled :
... Adaptation for the ♂ & ♀ (of France & Italy) of the subFamilies's Key contained in "The Genera of Ichneumonidae" of H. Townes ... ,
and you find the sub-Family Pimplinae
Remark:
If you have some knowledges on
Ichneumonidae, you know (in particular for the ♂) that it can be difficult to differentiate
Pimplinae &
Banchinae, in particulier because of the aspect of the surface of Tergites.
It is the case here, because the Tergites almost all presents swellings (see photo) which are not represented on the drawing of
Ephialtes (
Apechthis was extracted from this Genus) in
Townes , besides it can have a risk of confusion with other
Pimplinae having Tergites with the same swellings
However the Clypeus divided with a transverse suture (see photo) & the Carinae of Propodeum characterizes well the
Ephialtes (
sensu Townes)
---
Then you use
Fitton & ... , to identify the Genus
Apechthis... I added a very bad photo of Mesopleuron showing the Epicnemial Carina & the absence of Sternaulus
Determination of species : The Face (see photo) yellow with a central black area (variable in extent)
Of where the determination
