Good morning!!! - A. The locality in Cyprus is Amiantos (not Amlantos) - B. I am a bit wary about Dorcus alexisi as a distinct species. In SE Turkey/Syria/Lebanon/Jordan/Iran, there is the Dorcus parallelipipedus var. leuthneri Ganglbauer, 1886. In the internet there is only the original description of it (very brief), without other information or photos. No one has compared these 2 taxa to each other (D. alexisi and D. leuthneri). Probably, these 2 taxa belong to the same 1 species, present in both areas (Cyprus and SE Turkey/Syria/Lebanon/Jordan/Iran). Was attached a rough photo of the unique specimen in my hands (female), which comes from SE Turkey (10/VI/2000, near the city of Kahta). George

Dorcus alexisi, the only stag beetle known for Cyprus at present, is very closely related to the widespread D. parallelipipedus with which it was confused in the collections. Genetic research on the taxon is needed to clarify its taxonomic rank (species, subspecies or local population of D. parallelipipedus)......................................A review of geographical distribution of the stag beetles in Mediterranean countries (Coleoptera: Lucanidae) Bartolozzi , Norbiato , Cianferoni, 2016

The other species of this area, D. peyronis, is well known to me from Greece, from 3 different localities. It has a difference in the spines at the middle of the tibiae (meso- and metatibiae), while also the females do not have small horns on the forehead. So, it doesn't fit.
