Ciao a tutti,

In pochi minuti andro per un altro giorno in campo ma parima voglio postare due specie nuove per il forum, contento che ho trovato questi due in questo bel anno.

Prima e Orodaliscus rotundangulus (Reitter, 1900) - un piccolo aphodiino trovato in tane di Spermophilus citellus.
Identificato da Stefano Ziani (Creedence)... grazieeeeee !!!!!

Maschio e femina, foto piu grandi qui e qui e una foto in natura.

Ciao Cosmin! Congratulations! Species with very interesting bionomy. In Poland and Ukraine it occurs in burrows of speckled ground squirrel (Spermophilus suslicus) - see photos.

I forgot to complimment Cosmin for these photos: the shine of surface of these beetles is good, much better than in the past! Very good work, Cosmin!

I've just never seen this species with such coloration Elytra in all my specimens (from Volga Region) is red.

thank you, now have changed the lights and I'm very happy with this combination.



Why?
The small series that I have collected was mostly blackish, on few of the specimens where brownish.

Are You sure that Your species from the Volga region is A. rotundangulus? I have seen also tens of specimens from Ukraine and all were with elytra black or dark brown. See also my photo of Polish specimens.

Yes, I'm sure of that. This species was described from Eastern Ukraine (Kharkov), and original description says that it has brown-red elytra.
I'll take a photo of my specimens when I return to Saint Petersburg.

Dear Алексей, Thank You very much for Your very interesting photos! I think your Orodaliscus might be different species, distinct of rotundangulus, maybe new taxon! I've seen Ukrainian specimens od A. rotundangulus collected by Oleg Novikov and all had the same habitus as my and Cosmin's specimens (black or deep brown elytra)! Do You know Oleg Novikow? Show him Your specimens!
A. spalacophilus is currently in the subgenus Pseudacrossus, not Orodaliscus (see e.g. Dellacasa & Dellacasa in: Löbl & Smetana 2006: Catalogue of Palearctic Coleoptera, Vol. 3).
