EXCLUSIVELY FOR THIS FORUM:

M. gotzi has, as I found out, different structure of pronotum than M. brevicollis. There are large dots, while structure of pronotum of M. brevicollis looks rather as a grid. Shape of body of M. gotzi is a little bit narrower.

I have found M. gotzi also here in the southern Bohemia in my garden

It is often erroneously determined (also by specialists) as M. brevicollis.

In Valle Terme I have found 1ex. male + 1ex. female M. gotzi, together with M. brevicollis, longicollis and picipes.

There is no place between the dots on the shield in M. gotzi, there are only sharp edges.

If it isn't clear, then you must explore aedeagus! The photos of aedeagus are here, you can easily compare it.

When I first time saw these two species side by side, I noticed a difference of two specimens, but I was not sure, if it means something and if I see well. So I sent them to the specialist... but he returned all as M. brevicollis. Then I decided, for sure, to explore the aedeagus and I was very surprised .
