Sicuramente è un maschio, però senza una foto della faccia è quasi impossibile determinare la specie. |

Aspetta, magari passa un esperto e riesce a determinarla comunque. Mi raccomando, la prossima volta una bella foto della faccia per togliere ogni dubio

You could take this male with your fingers, the males not sting. But take a good look first. The males have the face entire yellow and the antennae hooked at the end. |

Rievoco questa discussione per chiarire un pò L'esemplare della foto è un maschio e si vede discretamente bene che uno degli ultimi sterniti addominali è deforme, tipicamente ciò succede con gli strepsitteri che parassitano le polistes. Io quindi immagino Polistes dominulus o Polistes nimphus, perchè sono le uniche due specie che vengono infestate dagli strepsitteri, che attecchiscono anche nelle altre specie ma non riescono a crescere e muoiono prima. Inoltre, i maschi di P.dominulus e di P.nimphus non sono distinguibili nemmeno con una foto facciale, per cui io vado per probabilità e dico Polistes dominulus, che è la più diffusa. |
