Oggetto del messaggio:  Parodontodynerus ephippium ephippium (Klug, 1817) - Vespidae

Here is a single European species from the genus Parodontodynerus, which was firstly described from a Dalmatian island (loc. typ. Dalmatiae insulae). The determination features include a rounded T1 dorsal surface, lack of any carina or lamella on T1, small tooth on both sides of postscutellum and strong longitudinal striations of female clypeus. Interestingly, this specimen comes from a high-mountainous region (1250 m a.s.l.), where in a small meadow in the forest I have collected 23 different species of Vespidae.
