Ciao Isidro, per caso presenta 3 ocelli sul capo? Mi sembra di intravederli ma non sono sicuro... Mattia

Camponotus sp., probabilmente C. pilicornis. Alcuni peli, soprattutto sulla testa, sono evidentemente agglutinati. |

Ah okok, quindi era solo un effetto ottico quindi, allora concordo pienamente con te, con quella forma del torace e con questa colorazione non ci dovrebbe essere altro. Mattia

Camponotus pilicornis should has setose gena and occipital part of head. They are invisible on your photo of head. Is this an artifact? I have collected a lot of Camponotus pilicornis in Spain and major workers have head usually darker than mesosoma, your specimen has the head and mesosoma of the same colour, like in minor workers of C. pilicornis. |

Yes, the head and mesosoma have the same colour. Before drying the color was even lighter.

O,k now are visible setae on occipital part of head but no setae on gena. They are white and you shoud be prepare photo of head on the dark background (black or dark grey not white). In area between eyes and base of mandible should be visible short bright, erect setea. This is the main character wich distinguished C. pilicornis from another common Spanish species C. sylavticus which has gena without setae. Both species are extremely variable in colour, from mostly yellow to almost dark brown. Thanks Lech Borowiec. With the white background it's difficult to see anything. I have only seen one on each side, are they enough? The profile of the head is more similar to C. sylvaticus

O'k. It has some setae on gena so this is Camponotus pilicornis, very light aberration. |
