Raccolto sotto corteccia, da un tronco di Castanea sativa morto da molti anni.

Lunghezza: 27 mm..

Anche a me.
C. irregularis ha un capoccione grande quasi come il protorace.
Non mi pare che nel Canton Ticino ci siano altri Platycarabus, oltre a questi due.

Si tratta certamente di Platycarabus depressus typ. (o bonellii a seconda di come lo si vuole chiamare).
Come ha giustamente osservato Julodis, l'irregularis ha diversa forma di testa ed anche pronoto e non ha nemmeno le fossette dorate così tante e marcate (meno di numero, più larghe e in genere rosso scuro).
Per quel che ne so io :oops: , in Canton Ticino l'irregularis non c'è (in Svizzera c'è ma credo parecchio più a Nord) mentre è citato (marginalmente, e più ad alta quota) il P. creutzeri kircheri (che però non è quello fotografato).
Da qualche parte (in quota) potrebbe anche starci il P. fabricii...
