lunghezza 3,5 mm
le foto non sono un granchè ma si può riuscire a capire da che "parti" siamo tanto per iniziare ad orientarmi? dovrebbe essere un bembidino ma almeno il genere o sottogenere si può capire?

E' un Philochthus ;) . Confermi che il protorace è privo di micro-scultura? Parrebbe un Philochthus iricolor Bedel, 1879 visto il colore bruno delle elitre. Era in ambiente salmastro?

no non l'ho preso al mare.
se non ricordo male è uno dei nanetti arrivati alla luce in una delle caccie al lume che ho provato vicino a casa. Ambiente collinare circa 6-7 km nell'entroterra.

Il Philochthus iricolor dovrebbe essere alobio. Il tuo esemplare potrebbe essere un Philochthus lunulatus (Geoffroy in Fourcroy, 1795) immaturo (normalmente ha elitre nere). Se confermi la mancanza di microscultura penso si possa confermare.

Allora sarà un inoptatus. La smarginatura basale del protorace non è molto chiara a causa dell'inclinazione dell'esemplare. Se fosse l'inoptatus avrebbe il disco del pronoto microreticolato.

a me sembra un lunulatus, tenendo anche conto che misura 3,5 mm

allora l'ho riguardato per bene e mi sa che avete ragione.
corrisponde tutto col lunulatus. Forse è un po' immaturo e per questo mi aveva fatto un'impressione diversa.
