Hello Mauro  From what I saw, Pterostichus bruckii has red whole legs. Specimens I have collected are only red thigh. The rest of the leg is black. I do not know this form. Tomasz

I did not note that. I do not have direct experience with this species. I have only 1 in my collection with yellow legs, but I found an indication that the colour of legs can be variable from red-yellow to red-brown. Maybe a simple varaiblity in this population?

In my collection I have also P. bruckii with all red legs. But thanks for the comment. Regards!  Tomasz |

Dear Tomasz, this species (like the other one you proposed some days ago with no replies) belongs to a very interesting group of south Balcanian Pterostichus. The species known from Albania are: P. lumensis, P. pentheri, P. malissorum, P. latifianus and P. bischoffianus. I do not know directly all these species, but from a comparison with the species of my collection I would say that this one is P. latifianus Apfelbeck, 1906. The single specimen I have is exactly of the same colour, with a faint blue reflection on the elytra, reddish femora and blackish tibiae. Among the other species, P. pentheri is very different, P. lumensis ssp. ljubetensis has completely reddish legs and P. lumensis s. str. has completely black legs. I have not checked the precise locality, but the area is more or less the same. I hope this has been useful to you.
