why 1777? also in "Gianfranco Sama, 2002. Atlas of the Cerambycidae of Europe and Mediterranean area. Part 1. Northern, Western, Central and Eastern Europe British Isles and Continental Europe from France (excl. Corsica) to Scandinavia and Urals" is reported as 1776.
grazie, cosmln

According to the Catalogue of Loebl & Smetana, wich follows Evenhuis, the work Genera Insectorum where Leptura livida was described was published, in fact, in 1777 not in 1776. REMARKS (in Evenhuis Literatura entomologica Dipterorum) : " the title page bears no date. The preface is dated 26 December 1776. Though Fabricius, 1778, Philosophia entomologica, dated his own work as 1776, given the late date for the preface, I follow Burmeister (1839), Engelmann (1846), Hagen 1: 220 (1862), and Graesse 2: 544 (1860), in dating the actual publication date as 1777. The earliest recorded review of this work found thus far is in the Allg. Verz. Neuer Bucher for October 1777. Fabricius did not send Joseph Banks a copy until January 1778".
