Why not Agapanthia (Smaragdula) intermedia Ganglbauer, 1883?  White pubescence of apex of elytrae are visible. I see white pubescence of lateral side of pronotum. Plants seems as Knautia. I think that is this species 99,9 %   cdr89 - can you add photos of lateral side? |

E cosa ci fa in Calabria???? . Davo per scontato che fosse la violacea, dato chel'intermedia non c'è in Italia...

Secondo me siamo troppo presuntuosi se pensiamo di aver capito la distribuzione degli insetti...chissa' quanta roba c' e' ancora da scoprire... |

It is A.osmanlis or A.intermedia? What are the most reliable characters to distinguish these species.

The first piece is from Hungary, is a typical A. osmanlis, caught on Dipsacus sp. The second piece is from the Czech Republic. It's probably A. intermedia, caught on Knautia arvensis L. Under the microscope can not see any obvious differences. There is a visible character distinguishing these species? Signs of the antennae are inconclusive to me. Thank you for answers. Michal. |

Michal, you all right that seems as A.osmanlis. Group osmanlis have a white ringed antennae. Beetle from first photos must be osmanlis (group) not intermedia-violacea (I mistakenly determined as A.intermedia). It will be rather A.osmanlis. Yours specimens seems to A.osmanlis but I have to little a comparative material. Besides lastly described a few new species from osmanlis-group (A.viti (HU), A.naciyae (TR), and A.ozdikmeni (TR)). First specimens have a white rings ... A.osmanlis? ... Calabria? Pierpaolo is needed here. |
