tuleskovi - endemic sp of Oros Olimpos ( apical portion of the lateral edge of the tibiae curved outwards, what looks like it ) Dorcadions from Oros Ossa - ossae, etruscum, bilineatum, thessalicum P.S. I remember this specimen from somewhere a few years ago and if I remember well and even that time I had a doubt about the locality... It looks like tuleskovi, but it has not been recorded from Ossa and never will be, can`t be. Another " tip " could be very very very strange ossae - I would eat a horse, if it would be ! Photo or at least drawing of apex of middle lobe of penis is needed ! Undetermined till I will see^^^. Ciao amico |

Kurzawa I want explain - I was determine this specimen only on the base on the one photo on polish forum http://www.entomo.pl/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 02#p187102 with some doubts. "Determination" specimens of Adam are always treated as game, recreation because Adam is author of a lot "puzzle games" on ours forum. This specimen (more specimens?) need(s) more acurate study. |

Jacek, it is tuleskovi, BUT the locality is  > wrong ! I m sure tuleskovi can`t get to Ossa in no way...and I m sure this specimen is from Olympos MtsPozdrawiam |

I am glad that you confirm my provisional determination; I wasn't sure it ;-) Anyway it is interesting that a one species can't be (if it is true) distributed widely, simultaneously on the mts. Olympos and Ossa (40 km between peaks). Do You know any reasons for such a situation or any source (literature, discussion on Forum) which can explain it?

simple - high altitude specie won`t go any lower than it is its limit. These won`t go any lower than 2000m ( many reasons- temperature, air pressure, length of the four season cycle, sometime foodplant ) + endemism. Between Ossa and Olympos is a big valley almost on the see level. BUT said that, I can` t say, that Adam`s datas are wrong. There is always a possibility! Personally I m sceptic about such a things, because of my experiences specially with greek species...

Topic seems more interesting!  I am convinced that shown by me in this topic Dorcadion was collected by me 21 May 2008 on the slopes of Mount Ossa. I caught him in the company of fellow entomologists: Paweł Górski and Krzysztof Łoś. They also have specimens from there. 'll Check with them whether they belong to the same species. Jacek, Zdeno!
