Hello, This time I returned from Georgia. Where we are caught, among other nice things, this type of Gori, who still do not know where to place it. It probably looks at some Conizonia. One piece I found on one plant, but generally were flying to different places and vegetation. It measures 12 to 14 mm. I ask you for your opinion and thank you in advance.

Marcello Yes, it may seem. Even C. antoniae was on site as well, but it's not.

Beetles flew variously. In the vicinity were also those plants.

Questa, con il beneficio del dubbio dovrebbe essere: Astragalus suprapilosus Gontsch.Questa è una Centaurea sp. (se non erro!).

Species was described as member of Coptosia (genus) without any arguments Taxon resembles of members of Conizonia genus (after description of Conizonia genus). Fairmaire, 1864 ha scritto: (...) C'est un insecte remarquable par la pubescence trèsserrée qui recouvre le corps et par les gros points enfoncés des élytres. Genus Coptosia is treated in present time in rank subgenus in Phytoecia. Moreover this taxon is very close to Conizonia (Conizonioides) kalashiani Danilevsky, 1992 (Danilevsky's opinion below) Cita: Conizonia georgiana (Navrátil & Rozsíval, 2016) was described (as Coptosia) from Georgia (4km NE of Gori, 42°N, 44°10'E, 950-1050 m). The new taxon is very close to Conizonia kalashiani Danilevsky, 1992 from Armenia and could be conspecific to it. The body proportions are same (published photos are a little deformed - in fact both specimens are more elongated), body size is same, the proportions of antennal segments are same. The only different character I see: prothorax in C. georgiana is a little widened anteriorly, in C. kalashiani it is a little widened posteriorly. But it can be connected with individual variability.
In description lacking comparision to genus Conizonia, to C.(C.) kalashiani Dan., 1992. I think that ordering to higher taxa is only supposition and need clarification on the basis for example researches of endophalus (similar as researches of Kasatkin's Coptosiella - differenties of building of apex of endophlus. It is very probably that Conizonioides Ozdikmen 2015 is group with four species: C.anularis C.kalashiani C.antoniae C.georgiana It must be checked.

I want verify yourself and to share my observations. Firstly, Conizonioides Ozdikimen, 2015 is very weak: without examination any specimens, without comparision to Coptosia, nothing. There is not any diagnose. Description of new subgenus on the basis... photos. Division between Coptosia and Conizonia is very unclear etc etc. Division of Conizonia on the basis distribution in North Africa is crazy. It is unbeliveable how can simply create new group of taxons. It is scientific propositions of course and will be verified quickly in near future, surely. I can't belive in this (my feeling). Secondly, Phytoecia (Coptosia) georgiana was not compared with Ph.(Coptosiella) antoniae but both species are recorded both on the same places (pers.comm.), so they must be two separate species (if not is form a one species, I don't know, comparision and differences is needed). One of all features of subgenus Coptosiella Kasatkin, 2015 in description is: Dorsal surface of elytra and pronotum without long erect hairs, entirely covered with homogenous gray pubescenceIn description of Ph.georgiana lacking information about erected hairs on elytra but I received photos of lateral view Ph.georgiana PT from Dave (thank You!). As you can see, both species are the same nacked elytra (without erect hairs). Both species are very similar. Anyway, all species: Ph.antoniae, Ph.georgiana and Ph.kalashiani are very attractive for many collections, they are rare species and they will be welcome in each collection despite its name ;-)

I've checked PT of Ph.georgiana. Undoubtedly Ph.antoniae and Ph.georgiana are different species belonging to different genuses (differenties in endophallus structure, spines on hind coxa and others as showeg Kasatkin, 2015). I need to further investigations others species missing in my coll: Ph.kalashiani and Ph.albovittigera. I looking for this species for rent or change, I offer: A.ingrica, V.hirsuta and others.
Anyway about Ph.georgiana will be next comments soon.
