Good morning everyone!
Today I will tell about my this year's adventure with Xylotrechus ibex (GEBLER, 1825).
From the beginning of the 21th century this interesting species is more and more common in Poland. Ecologically it is primarily associated with alder Alnus spp. Preferred are old trees with thick bark. Eggs are folded into still alive, diseased, dying and searing trees, sometimes also in dead trees. Larvae live in bark, sometimes under bark. Beetles swarming in the hot, sunny weather on tree trunks.
This beetle I met this year twice:
