A small beetle collected yesterday in Dobrogea region, unfortunately it is a female and I think it's Longitarsus echii, but a confirmation of the name would be welcome!

It looks more similar to Longitarsus fallax than to L. echii. It has deep frontal grooves, body stouter than in L. echii, see bronze form of female in my iconography: http://www.cassidae.uni.wroc.pl/Colpolo ... 0echii.htm, and spermathecal duct at base simple (in L. echii spermathecal duct at base is more or less S-shaped). According to scale bar your specimen is 3.3 mm long, in L. echii females are usually larger, up to 4.0 mm. |
