C. aeruginosa, combattimenti e accoppiamenti

Sempre sul solito Salix del mio giardino (v. viewtopic.php?f=11&t=36431&hilit=salix) oggi ce ne erano anche fino a 5 in contemporanea. Ma lo spettacolo più bello lo hanno dato questi due maschi+1 femmina. Non han fatto altro che combattere come dei matti loro, mentre la femmina aspettava, placida, suggendo linfa beatamente. Il vincitore poi si accoppiava, ma per poco perchè il perdente tornava quasi subito in volo e via da capo a combattere. Non pensavo che i cetonini (o cetonidi) combattessero così animatamente!
Ho fatto anche un interessante video, non di qualità eccelsa, non ho idea se posso postarne un pezzo.

E' uno spettacolo che non ho mai visto, nonostante dalle mie parti sia una specie molto comune! E' un comportamento che mostrano anche gli altri cetonidi

Non so se lo facciano tutti i cetonidi, io sinceramente non avevo mai visto lotte del genere tra cetonidi (mentre sono un classico tra maschi di Lucanus cervus, Aegosoma scabricorne, altri cerambicidi ed anche scarabeidi). Per il video devo vedere se riesco a tagliarlo perchè è molto lungo. Ho un pc nuovo nuovo e non credo di avere installato software per l'editing dei video. Nel caso peggiore lo posto su internet e mando il link!


Adrian, ne deduco che la Cetonischema aeruginosa dalle tue parti è piuttosto rara, o sbaglio?

PS, l'ultima foto fa schifo, è mossa, ma ternete conto che le bestiole si muovevano a velocità pazzesca ed io le fotografavo da lontano con un teleobiettivo!

Cetonischema aeruginosa is not rare in the southern part of the country, in the Quercus woods. I spent my childhood on there. But in that time I had no idea about the wine traps. I remember just looking up in the high Quercus canopies watching C. aeruginosa in flight and never could to touch one. Very rare cases when I could to catch one, was when they flied downwards to laying eggs. So I got females only. Now when I know how to collect them, I cannot go there because the job keeps me where I live now. I remember long time ago I have seen about 5-6 specimens, in a high Quercus canopy fighting to each other to reach the source of tree juice. It was impossible to climb there.

I see Adrian. I also regret of my childhood when I had plenty of time, but not the appropriate knowledge for effectively collecting beetles.
However, where I lived, there was no C. aeruginosa. Fortunately, where I live now is in general much better from an entomological point of view! (the issue is now the very limited amount of time I can dedicate to entomology... )
