I saw this beetle today in Parc Henri Matisse next to Lille Eurostar station in northern France. Is it possible to determine this Trichius to species level? Matthew

I think that it is Trichius zonatus !

I live beside Lille, only zonatus saw there…(fasciatus live in the north of France too but not here). The characteristics of the body (pilosity, drawing,...) are those of zonatus but to be 100% sure it would be necessary to have a photograph of the median tibiae (notches) but I think (with the jizz) that it's well zonatus!!! |
