Hello, maybe this is a Phyllognathus?
Found it at the beach in between the waves; it got a bit too much saltwater i think. Size was about 20 mm. Can anyone help? Thanks

This is the first one I see, but I think it is Temnorhynchus baal Reiche & Saulcy, 1856. Perhaps is it the first record for Turkey? |

This is very interesting, thank you! So it seems to occur also far more in the Eastern region of Turkey, maybe all the southern coastline . Although it wasn't in good condition, this specimen definetly was alive.

Raccolto anche quest'anno nello stesso sito (vill. Izmir,Pamucak, beach, 37°56’N 27°16’E, 6.V.2014). Come la maggior parte dei dinastini e' specie crepuscolare-notturna e durante il giorno si raccolgono solo esemplari in cattive condizioni. The new record is intersting although the species has quite large distribution in "Asia minor". |

In realtà era già noto di Turchia dal 2000 della stessa località in cui lo avevate raccolto (Pamucak) oltre che di Kusadagi. Vedi P.Tauzin, Le Coleopteriste, 39: 81-86. Ciao, Guido |

Vero, me l'ha segnalato lo stesso Tauzin. Disgraziatamente la segnalazione era sfuggita anche a Krell, che non la cita nelle sue revisioni del genere e con cui mi consultai. Poco cambia: la responsabilità è dell'autore  Del resto il lavoro è servito comunque a pubblicare lo strano dato di Erzurum e soprattutto a rinsaldare la collaborazione italo-turca
