 I think some of these red-points are very stranges. Three of these are in the centre of Tuscany, near Florence.I never found C.rossii far away the coast, but only in pinewoods near the coastline. :hi:

In the collection of my colleague there are older specimens from Rignano Sull'Arno, Bivigliano, Firenze env., and Fucecchio (see photo attached), all these localities far from the coast.

By the way, I have some specimens collected by you in my collection. :D :hi:

Hi Daniel, these older specimens from Rignano,Bivigliano,Florence and Fucecchio are very stranges.
I think that the larvae or scarabs are arrived in these place whith a passive transport of horse manure. The dates of finding are different to normal fenology of this scarab.( September-March usually )
1- In this book " Coleotteri del Padule di Fucecchio " A. Bordoni don't describes no one C. rossii found in this area.
2- Bivigliano is an agricolture-area to 500 meter in height near Florence. It's strange that C. rossii lives or "it lived " in this place. This scarab lives , for my and general opinion, in Pinewood or pastures whith sandy-groud near the coast line.( Marina Di Vecchiano, San Rossore, Lago di Burano, etc )
In my area contrymen usually fertilize whit horse manure their archards, olive-groves and fields.Horse manure arrives from a distance to these places.
I oftenfound much larvae and scarab ( for example Aphodinii,Onthophaginii and Geotrupes sp. ) inside the horse manure in olive-groves and fields far the pastures.
Anyway, these specimens are interesting and unusual.
What do you think about my hypothesis?
I'll wait your answer

Ciao Fabrizio, thanks a lot for your interesting reply. Of course, you may be right. However, it can not exclude also the confusion of locality data. In my own collection there are specimens only from the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea. So, some points in my map are with a question mark. :hi:
