This wonderful pair i was caught on the edge of the mountain forest, in the evening in July.
The view is very interesting. The larva has not yet been described. Across , larvae lives in old trees (beech, hornbeam). Males fly to after sunset, about 3-4 hours. Females fly very rarely and late nochyu. I note that the female is very difficult to catch.
The beetle has a length .male 38-49mm, female 38-42mm. Occasionally there are males with red-brown head.

Very interesting study on molecular phylogenetics Lucanus.
Unfortunately, the author had no samples from the Caucasus, Iran and Central Asia.

I think he respects entomological community on the forum will be interested if the course is not familiar with this work.
