Found this lovely beetle yesterday by a river in northern Palencia, N Spain. It is obviously Hoplia sp., but I'm not sure whether it is korbi or chlorophana. From the rounded angle between the teeth on the forelegs, it would appear to be H. chlorophana. Can anyone confirm this, or otherwise?

Many thanks

A mounted beetle of Hoplia chlorophana Erichson, 1848 can be seen here.
I don't find the diagnose for Hoplia korbi Petrovitz, 1958 anyone has a paper involving this?

Thank you for looking at this specimen Manci.

The post you made for chlorophana doesn't seem to have the same obtuse angle between the 1st and 2nd teeth on the foreleg, however, so I wonder if it is indeed the same species?

please call me Cosmin.

regarding the differences...your specimens is a male, mine a female and maybe this is one of the differences between sexes. also I received this specimen with this name (so this identification is not mine)... will try to key them myself to see if I end in the same place also to check if I have a male and do some other photos. will keep you posted on this.

I have added now also a male there, as you can see the anterior tibiae are quite different.

Thank you Cosmin.

Yes, I see from your post that the male's anterior tibia is very different from the female.

Do we thus assume that my specimen is also H. chlorophana?

is just a presumption, I barely have the gut to say a name on them with specimen in hand :)
just wanted to share so that you can have a reference.
