Ciao,

Ritornato da campo e per un po di giorni in casa.
Raccolto questa Hoplia e ho bisogno di aiuto con identificazione.

Mi scusi se posto il resto in inglese ma e piu facile.

Following the key from Baraud 1992.
- 9 articles in antenna
- posterior claw without split
- median tooth on anterior tibia is oriented in front, paralel with apical tooth
- small claw of the anterior legs is splited (also the big one is splited)
- head and pronotum with short and rare pubescence, on sternites one "line" of hair between scales

and after this I'm not sure how to follow the key
- scales cover or not all dorsal part?

size of specimens 6-7 mmm

Hi Cosmin, nice find!
I don't have at hand for a direct comparions, but my first guess is Hoplia parvula.
I think it would be first country record. The species is currently recorded from Estonia to Poland, to Ukraine and to Kazakhstan.

Hi Marco,

Yes, for sure is something new for romanian fauna.
My guess was too H.parvula but the size bothered me ... there are specimens that have even only 5 mm ... in Baraud is 6.5 to 8.5, mine have a maximum of 7 I think.

Need to talk in private ... have to show you something really good ;) .
Skype or let me know :) .

Hi Jan, thanks.
I didn't know this paper, nor - probably - the authors of the Palaearctic Catalogue. Do you have a PDF?
