Length: 38 mm. The only specimen was killed in alcohol, and it is very fresh emerged, so I couldn't extract genitalia.

This is a Kheper; for Zimbabwe are reported the following species:
-Kheper prodigiosus (Erichson, 1843)
-Kheper aeratus Gerstaecker, 1871
-Kheper clericus (Boheman, 1857)
-Kheper cupreus (Laporte de Castelnau,1840)
-Kheper subaeneus Harold, 1869
-Kheper lamarcki (MacLeay, 1821)

I hope this helps (and sorry for my English)

Ciao :hi:
Andrea

Thank you. I have seen Kepher is a subgenus of Scarabaeus. I was looking for keys, but I could not find anything. All I have is Balthasar, but it not covers the subsaharian Africa. Can you tell me what are the differences between the both subgenera? Or what is the actual status of Kepher? Independent genus or subgenus? Thank you again.

Scarabaeus, Ateuchetus, Kepher, Escarabaeus, ecc., sono oggi considerati generi indipendenti. Si veda in propositoo il lavoro di Ziani & Gudenzi (2012).

First, I thank both of you cordially.
I have found this old work http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/bibl ... 3#/summary
And according to this, it can be Kheper prodigiosus (Erichson, 1843), more or less cf.
