I try... Due to this work I think we can narrow the list of possible species to these (although by basing only on distribution): Paragymnopleurus Shipp, 1897 maurus (Sharp, 1875) melanarius (Harold, 1867) spinotus (Boucomont, 1914) striatus (Sharp, 1875) I would exclude P. spinotus, that is quite different from your specimen. P. melanarius and P. striatus, in the keys, are said to be black, unlike your one. Furthermore, the habitus (expecially antennae and the overall shape) seems to fit more to maurus than to the other two species. I would then suggest Paragymnopleurus maurus (Sharp, 1875), but take it "con le pinze"! |
