Alosimus syriaca usual species in the Israel. But here is Alosimus who met in Naharayym (100 m from border with Jordan). Flew on area 15Х30m. Similar to Alosimus smyrnensis, only Alosimus smyrnensis in Israel does not live.

Hi, your photos from Israel represent species belonging to two taxa: one Oenas of the laevicollis complex (short and transverse antennomeres, black elytra; Mont Carmel) and possibly Alosimus syriacus (Naharayym), the Levant' phenotype. If you collected some specimens and you need the identification, please send me one male of each. Alosimus smyrnensis has the head metallic green, while the syriacus head is black. Hi Yuri, thanks for the expedition. The next spring (on March) I will spend about three weeks in Israel, teaching one course on Meloidae, studying the Museum collections and collecting in the field. Possibly I could meet you. Best regards, Marco |
