In Meloe ganglbaueri you can see golden hair on the upper side of abdomen (sometime more, sometime less). Check this one to compare. I don't see any golden hair in you specimen, so it is probably Meloe mediterraneus, but it's better if you check by microscope. |

I would like examine this specimen. I think it belongs to Meloe (Eurymeloe) apenninicus. After the description from Siciliana an Calabrian Apennines, I found this species also in the Central Apennines (Abruzzo, Lazio) and i recentlyh published some interesting records from Tuscany (Amiata Mt) and Giorgio pezzi published a record from Romagna. This record from N Tuscany (Garfagnana), if confirmed by the examination, could be the northernmost of the Italian peninsula! Marco Bologna (marcoalberto.bologna@uniroma3.it) |
