I found today this Meloe and for sure it is not the commonly M. proscarabaeus. Maybe this one is Meloe rugosus ? :roll:

I don't know very much about Meloidae :oops: , so I assume my specimen is M. brevicollis ?

I's my opinion, but I am not a specialist in Meloidae. Ask to Marco Bologna, or perhaps to Daniele Sechi. They surely know this family much better than me.

In my opinion too this is M. brevicollis but I don't know Romanian fauna. :)

Thank you Giorgio :birra: , it seems the specimen is really M. brevicollis, Daniele Sechi also confirmed this ID :D

I can confirm the identification: M. (Eurymeloe) brevicollis. The only European species similar is M. scabriusculus, which differs because of the black colour, the shape of pronotum and antennomeres.
