Cercando di archiviare questa discussione mi sono impelagato.
In FaunaEur la famiglia Phengodidae non esiste; in rete ho trovato diversi riferimenti ma è ripetuto da più parti che i rappresentanti di questa famiglia vengono trovati solo nel nuovo mondo, a cui non mi sembra appartenga la Turchia.
Su ITIS il genere Cydistus viene attribuito (seguendo Lobl & Smetana 2007) alla famiglia Rhagophthalmidae Olivier, 1907. L'unica cosa che mi sembra appurata è che si tratta di un Elateroidea.
A questo punto è meglio che della questione si occupi qualcuno più competente.

Solo per citare parte della bibliografia, Cydistus è stato collocato in Drilidae (Olivier 1910, Wittmer 1944), Rhagophthalminae/ Phengodidae (Crowson 1972, Lawrence & Newton 1995), Karumiidae (Pic 1927, Paulus 1972) e, significativamente, in Elateriformia, quindi in posizione di incertae sedis (Lawrence e al.1999). Visto che la questione è controversa possiamo lasciare quest'ultima sistemazione.

Cydistus for me also. There is only 1 species recorded in Turkey - zurcheri Bourgeois, 1908a , a few more around - Iran, Syria, so it might be whatever species.

No idea if any keys exist for these, but what I would to suggest is, to contact either Robin Kundrata or L. Bocak ( emails can be found online ).

In Palcat they are treated as a family PHENGODIDAE LeConte, 1861, subfamily Rhagophthalminae Ε. Olivier, 1907 , but I have read somewhere that they are a sister families and Rhagophthalmindae are elevated to family level, so no idea which one is valid....

Very interesting animal, that`s for sure ! :-)

Hi all,
there is still no consensus in Cydistus placement, however, it is more probably a member of Dascilloidea than a member of Elateroidea. The fresh material for DNA studies to clarify its position is of course more than welcome,
