Oops, just now noticed the size, 18 mm., is huge !!! That of the photo- (paratypus) is only 10.5 mm. I have one specimen in my collection, is 12 mm. But perhaps the small / large size, only correspond to the differences between male / female ... |

I do not think it is P. dieckmanni. The pronotum in P. dieckmanni has sides regularly rounded, whereas in P. cinereus it has sides more or less parallel, or almost so. Actually, the specimens of P. cinereus from Crete differ a bit from the usual P. cinereus from the remaining part of the range, but at present I cannot say anything about the value of these differences. Knowing that almost everything is endemic in Crete, one never knows! Anyway, at present I would identify this specimen as the P. cinereus form that lives in Crete. Massimo |
