I keyed it out as B. imbricornis, but I did a mistake somewere, it couldn't be imbricornis because this specimen is a male and didn't have a small black spine at the first tarsal segment on the median legs
...the lenght is ~ 2.5 mm...please help

This is a member of Bruchidius varius group, probably new species but still undescribed. See discussion on spec. prope varius on web page: http://www.coleo-net.de/coleo/texte/bruchidius.htm Probably the female you added to the forum few days ago belongs to the same species (I identified it as prope B. varius rather than B. dispar) This taxon was noted from several countries under name B. martinezi (also in my papers) but true B. martinezi is exclusively Iberian species and populations outside Iberian Peninsula belong mostly to this undescribed taxon. |

Okey, I understand, but for the moment is anyone working on this, collecting material from Europe or studying the material from collections to see if this is truly a new species or it was previously described as a form or aberration of another species?

Now is a good occasion to start in study on European and Mediterranean bruchids. "The old guards" have crumbled and no one is currently conducting intensive studies on the Bruchidae of this area except Yus Ramos, but he is working only on Iberian bruchids. |
