Hello Tamas, Athous subfuscus female? Also it is possible that Athous_Volos, Athous_Ossa1 ,Athous_Ossa2 belong to one and the same species. |

Hello Georgi, Thank you for your answers! Well, I do not think it is subfuscus, but if u say... The other 3 are totally different for me. The ones from Ossa have really different shaped pronotum, but they were caught near to each other. The one from Volos..well, it has shorter elytra, and this beetle is not so long, and thin like the others. Just for example: It has a shape like A. bicolor. the Ossa-n ones like A. apfelbecki. Mr. Mertlik says to the subfuscus one like: Athous marginicollis, and the others are A. brachnati, but I know it is not 100%after a photo. ![]() Unfortunatelly I do not have series of these beetles. Well, maybe Giuseppe can help. ![]() Thanx again! Tamás |

Hello Tamas, again OK to wait for response from G.Platia, but if you let me sum up the information till now: Athous_Pindus2 -A.marginicollis f ?(it is really not a typical subfuscus) Athous_Ossa1 and 2- A.brachati(I think the difference in pronotum is a variation) Athous_Volos-undetermined/unknown And of course, we can not be 100% sure about determination from these pictures esp. about Athous from Greece. ![]() |

Dear Tamás, A.gracacensis is possible, too. The other Athous from Pindus could be turcicus, but I'm not sure. Maybe you have specimens to compare with. |

Hi Georgi, I checked the type of A. turcicus, and the four males in our collection, which are determined by Platia. They are not the same, like mine. Te type is totally different for me (old and it is in bad condition), the others have different male genitalia. But I have not routine in identification of Athous ![]() One from Croatia can be A. gracacensis. Thank you Tamás |

![]() ![]() as you have discussed with Georgi is very difficult to determine the Athous from a picture and I can confirm it. ![]() ![]() |
