Hi alllllll !!!

So, I m back.... After quite heavy start of the year followed by even more heavier half of the year things got slightly better. At least I have time for Insect and internet...
Many of you asked me, where am I. I was just here around. No time for trips abroad and similar enjoyments. And what I did ? Well, I got crazy with wasps Not for me to be precise, but for one nice amico from Bologna.

So, 1 road between the fields in SW. Road, which is around 300 years old. Tillas and Quercus which remembers quite a lot, hosts still many Insects. From ` bycids for example Rhamnusium, Necydalis, Megopis, Chlorophorus, cerdo. Plenty of rutilans. Many Cetoniins, even Osmoderma. But nothing from this was actual mission ! One nice June evening, when I just needed to get lost somewhere, I came there. 7pm. After 5 meters I could not believe my eyes ! Chrysidids everywhere, on every plant, every log, crazy ! Net in the car - always !, exhaustor - always ! , so it started. When I had a slightly bit of time, I always went there to check what is going on. 20 minutes was enough to collect ...hmmm...quite a lot . Interesting was, that when I went there around 9 or 10 am or 2pm or so - 1-2 animals. But when I went there around 6-7pm - Chrysidids everywhere. Not much determined yet as I don`t know much about these beauties, but what I know is, that Euchroeus is super cool animal. Panorpes quite interesting find also, because no sand around here.

Ragazzi, il prossimo giugno, torcia alla mano, vado a prendere Crisidi tra le 23 e le 24!

fra le 23 e le 24 forse è un tantino esagerato però è capitato anche a me, in qualche occasione, di osservare una vera e propria esplosione di attività poco prima del tramonto

in particolare anni fa, in grecia, a kalogria (luogo che sia l'izzillustrissimo, sia il destinatario dei crisidi di cui sopra, conoscono bene ), su una frana di sassi e pietrisco al bordo di una stradina, dove fino a un'oretta prima i crisidi arrivavano col contagocce , a un certo punto c'è stato un quarto d'ora di follia i crisidi si vedevano tutt'intorno a 4-5 per volta tiravo a uno e nel retino me ne trovavo magari 3 o 4 ...

Eccellentissimo, forse è possibile che in giornate di caldo opprimente questi animali trovino le condizioni ottimali (temperatura/tasso di umidità) in orari tardi, verso il tramonto.

Exactly Francesco ! June and July was very hot here. Temperatures over 35 C. They had activity only ( I assume ) early in the morning and then late afternoon, when the temperatures dropped. We have experienced that in Morocco also with Gian Luca. Day time animals were hiding in the bottom of the flowers or Stilbum were flying into our room and kitchen in hotel. For sure it is not normal behaviour to be out feeding that late day time.
