Hi,

I found this flies last weak, on sunny meadow near to little river. Host plant: Rumex sp.

Is it possible to tell something about species or genur or, at least, about family of this flies? And I am wonder if it is common occurence that so many flies was on one host plant ?

Yes, I think about flies, for example I meant family Ceratopogonidae :) First I thought about ants but I am not sure.

Maybe it seems like Bibionidae, but they are so small. I saw Bibio marci and B. lanigerus many times, and length of these flies was much bigger, always. But I am not a specialist in Diptera ...

Edit: By the way: Bibionidae has short antennae, I think

Alcune specie formano sciami di migliaia di individui sulla vegetazione bassa e sui cespugli per accoppiarsi.
