Ferdinandea aurea Rondani, 1844
Ferdinandea cuprea (Scopoli, 1763)
Ferdinandea ruficornis (Fabricius, 1775)
Genus Ferdinandea ( Speight,StN 2010)
Key features:
1 Face with median black stripe from facial prominence (or from above facial prominence) down to upper mouth
edge (ant.seg.3 deeper than long; abdominal tergites entirely pale-haired; hind tarsus with basitarsus distinctly
longer than tarsomeres 2-4 combined) ............................................................................. aurea Rondani
--- face entirely yellow medially, between antennae and upper mouth edge (a vague, dorso-ventral, blackish stripe
may be present on each side of the face, from the eye margin to the buccal cavity) ......................................... 2
2 Arista blackish; upper and lower katepisternal hair patches hardly separated; abdominal tergites entirely palehaired
(yellow/pale yellow); hind tarsus with basitarsus as long as tarsomeres 2-5 combined; haltere knob black

For me ;) it is not F.cuprea, perhaps Ferdinandea cf.area but I'can not see the key features :|

Stessa Località un anno dopo (28 Luglio 2012), stesse caratteristiche morfologiche (mi sembra),
stessa alimentazione: nettare di Fiori di Cicoria :D

Dubbio per la prima ma la seconda non è una Ferdinandea aurea. Manca la banda nera facciale sulla mediana, tra prominenza facciale e margine buccale.
Per me si tatta di una femmina di Ferdinandea cuprea.

Si, anch'io escluderei F. aurea per il secondo soggetto. Rimarrebbe l'alternativa tra F. cuprea e F. ruficornis ma queste foto non mostrano abbastanza caratteri per sciogliere il dubbio, almeno per me. Forse rinominare l'argomento Ferdinandea sp. è la scelta migliore (e anche la più comoda, così non c'è bisogno di sdoppiare la discussione).
