Sì Enzo, è certamente uno Scydmaeninae: genere Cephennium s. l. Riesci a capire se è completamente anoftalmo o se ha degli ommatidi?  CiaoPiero |

Ciao Piero direi che ha un occhio piuttosto piccolo, formato da un basso numero di ommatidi Enzo

I asked for assistance from colleagues in Poland, Pawel Jaloszynski (Specialist Scydmaenidae) his answer Jan, No way to ID Cephennium from a photo, this genus is a mess and I'm not even touching it. The current subgeneric diagnoses are dubious and unclear, so I'm not guessing what subgenus it may be. Pawel |

Pawel I am sooooo happy to read that other people think like this about subgeneric diagnoses of this genus.  Enzo, when preparing scydmaenidae you should always extract the aedeagus. Certain ID from external feature is possible only in few cases. You can even glue the aedeagus on a label without proper inclusion in mounting medium. This may be done later, but the extraction is much easier on fresh material. |
