My identification of Athalia longifoliae uses mainly the key of Mol for the Dutch species.
I cannot guarantee that this key applies to the French and Italian species. So the message which follows will lead probably in errors of identification.===================================================================♂ : Capture in Cne : Prémery (Dépt. Nièvre) - 08 VIII 2012
♀ : Capture in Cne : Donzy (Dépt. Nièvre) - 17 VII 2012

For the determination of the genus Athalia, see :
download/file.php?id=81974 The Antennae of Genus has 10/11 segments, thus we cannot confuse this Genus with the others Allantinae.
*
For the determination of the species, see :
viewtopic.php?f=375&t=38594&hilit=+athaliaThe group of Athalia circularis contains the sp. circularis longifoliae cordatoides (which is maybe a ssp of circularis).
These species are difficult to differentiate with the color only, because in particular we cannot exclude regional variations.
However if there are 2 black bands (horizontal & lateral) on the Mesopleura (see the 2 bad photos), it is about the sp. longifoliae.
[Attention according to Mol, a longifoliae ♂ was found out with the Mesopleura nearly entirely yellow]
Of where the determination.
----
circularis was captured in Italy,
But not
longifoliae, however it is possible that this species is present also but confused with
circularis.
