Hello. In the tribe Tracheini (or Trachydini) there are about 2000 species, in 11 genera, but only two of them live in the Afrotropical Region: Trachys and Habroloma, both with many species, especially Trachys. I am unable to identify your specimen. To discriminate Trachys and Habroloma, check the pronotum. In Habroloma there is a dimple near the front corner (one for each side of the pronotum), in Trachys there is not. Looking at your photo, it seems to be a Trachys, but I am not sure because the dimple may be hidden by the hair.

There is no dimple near the front corner so itis a Trachys, but I guess it is not possible to get further?

Do you know if there is many species in West Africa?
