To the river near Kiryat Bialik, Israel

on 20 October, the last day Jewish holiday "Sukot". And the next day there is always rain. But as long as its there is no, i went to the river to look at the Danaus

Per me va bene, l'importante è che siano vivi per iniziare un allevamento. For Yuri: if you can, for me whatever stage of metamorphosis (eggs, caterpillar, crisalid, adults) is good for me.

Potrei anche sbagliarmi, ma mi pare di ricordare di aver visto questa farfalla, anche se molto raramente, in due o tre località del Lazio (una volta sicuramente nella zona di macchia mediterranea tra la pineta di Ostia e il litorale, un'altra volta mi sembra sul Monte Leucio (FR), sempre in zona di macchia mediterranea, e forse anche dalle parti di Poggio Catino, dove stranamente c'è sempre una zona a macchia mediterranea, con tanto di corbezzoli, benchè sia piuttosto all'interno. Dovesse ricapitarmi (sarà difficile, dal momento che l'ho vista tre volte in 43 anni che cerco insetti), proverò a prendertela viva.

Hi Yury,
your Danaidae is Danaus chrysippus aegyptius if the sub specie is accepted as distinct from the Oriental Danaus chrysippus chrysippus
The specie fly in Italy: found rarely in Liguria , Toscana , Lazio, more common in Sardegna e Sicilia probably in other sud region.

The speciments in the photo show the variability of the specie and its sub specie, from feft to right and top to down : Danaus c. chrysippus :Filippine / Filippine - Cina _Hainan -
Danaus c. aegyptius: Libano / Arabia Saudita - Ciad / Sierra Leone / Rep. C. Africana - Burundi_Burundi_Burundi / Italia Sardegna -
Danaus c. batavianus Indonesia: Giava
Danus c. cratippus Indonesia / Ceram / Obi Is.
Danaus c. petilia - Nuova Caledonia
