Hello guys.

I have a question for local collectors.
I will finally manage to get some holiday around Christmas and New Year and nowadays thinking of where to go sifting. Pselaphinae and Scydmaeninae forever!
What´s the weather like by the end of a year in Sardinia or Calabria? What about snow conditions and temperatures in lower altitude by the sea?

Grazie,
Adam

I am from Reggio Calabria, the temperatures rarely drop below 10-15°C by the sea and I think it snowed only two times in about 20 years (and very lightly to be fair). It quickly gets colder as you move to higher altitudes like in Aspromonte, where it regularly snows, but if you plan to stay by the sea I can assure you'll find a temperate weather. I've never had the chance to collect while I was there in the winter though, so I don't know if Pselaphinae and Scydmaeninae can be found there.

Hi, Arturo.

Thanks for the promising response. Coastal areas are fine. Thanks to Facebook pages I´ve found out there´s a lot of snow in the mountains. 8 hours of daylight and sifting at the beginning of January, 8 hours of material sorting and 8 hours of eating and sleeping. Sounds like a dream to me :)
