Infinite thanks!!!!! I never heard before about this genus of dermestid beetles! Are they wasp parasites? (vespulae) German wasps are extremely common in this zone! |

The specific epithet "vespulae" derives from the fact that the first specimens of this species were collected from a wasp nest in the USA. Today, Reesa vespulae is considered a pest of museums, because its larvae feed on dried insects and specimens of other animals. Today, It's a cosmopolitan parthenogenetic species and only females are known for this species. They could be simbionts of wasps... At the moment, I couldn't say if, sometimes, they could be parasites of these insects. |
