Dim. 1,15 mm x 1,65 mm

Ieri ho rinvenuto questo acaro in un arnia di Apis mellifera. Non lo avevo mai visto prima, soprattutto non avevo mai visto un acaro "orizzontale" :mrgreen:

Se può servire a qualcuno per studio l'ho messo in alcool.

Acaro 'trasversale' o 'trasverso' per la forma più larga che lunga, ma trasversale soprattutto come problema e piaga dell'apicoltura a livello mondiale.

Curiosità: e sì, è vero, in questo acaro la forma dell'idiosoma è davvero particolare, ma non tutti sanno che è propria delle femmine. I maschi sono completamente diversi.

Nota: il genere veniva classificato nella famiglia Laelapidae, ma attualmente è riconosciuta una famiglia distinta (Varroidae). Di sicuro non appartiene alla famiglia Parasitidae.... Lasciate perdere Wikipedia!
