But the my research I've found the source, I understand if you are wrong "effect until the bee bite," he says. What is your opinion about this? Source: http://www.jbc.org/content/285/42/32293.full |

You can read this article to get an idea about Cheiracanthium sp. bites. http://www.scielo.br/scielo.php?script= ... 2000300014 I think that C. mildei is not one of the most dangerous spiders, but also I think that it would be better if you avoid it. |

The article is non so convincing for me. For istance, the author indicates Steatoda paykulliana (and why not Steatoda nobilis and Steatoda grossa?) among the most dangerous italian spyders, but this is not confirmed by other authors. In particular, Cheiracanthium mildei is a rather small, frail and litthe aggressive spyder, differently from Cheiracanthium punctorium, and is very common even inside our houses, but very few people get bitten and almost nobody have consequences. I would sharply separate the considerations about the two species of the genus Cheiracanthium. Don't worry too much about C. mildei ... ![]() ![]() |

I think this article is comprehensive enough for a first approach to spider knowledge as well as the conclusion is absolutely clear and scientifically correct: Cita: For instance, the severity of clinical signs may depend on the bite site or on underlying health problems. Some populations of yellow sac spiders might be more dangerous to humans.".... ..."It is also possible that clinical signs vary from individual to individual depending on the reaction to the venom, given that more susceptible individuals can have stronger reactions. Also the author honestly admits that we know too little to draw a definitive conclusion about this argument: Cita: Probably, a substantial number of cases or studies are still needed to fully understand the effects of yellow sac spider bites on humans. Until a definitive conclusion is reached, because of the possibility of appearance of systemic effects, it is advisable that any person receiving a yellow sac spider bite consult a physician for treatment.

I was not criticizing the article in general. What I was objecting was just the inclusion of Steatoda paykulliana (and not, in case, the entire genus) among the most dangerous italian spyders, and a certain confusion between the effects of the bite of Cheiracanthium punctorium - that actually is fairly big and reasonably with more poison - and Cheiracanthium mildei. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

In my apartment, where I live for 25 years, lives a population of Steatoda grossa (this is one), with whom cohabit peacefully. I do not think having to fear biting. By hypothesis it can be poisonous, but not being aggressive, there is no danger. |
