PS: I'm very interested in the description of the habitat of this specimen.

Now it’is too late for almost all species of Raphidiidae. However, in this period, in certain parts of Romania you can find some FANTASTIC (and interesting) antlions!!!

Do you use light trap?

I found this specimen by sweeping the vegetation (I think Sambucus nigra bushes) at the edge of a small coniferous forest (Pinus sylvestris). I hope this week to upload here some pics with the place. Here is a photo with the place where I found this interesting insect :

Hello , I use soemtimes light traps, but this year I didn't see any antlion .......I only find antlion larvae, and sometimes I take them and try to get the adults ........Please tell me in witch period of the year I can find Raphidiidae Regards, Alexandru

Raphidioptera are typical spring species, at least in Europe. Most species can be found from the end April to June; usually the last month is the "top". Some mountain species can be found even in August. However I don't know very well Romanian climate, I suggest you to search in June but I can't totally rule out that there are still few specimens in this period (maybe some females). The larvae can be found year-round. They can live under barks or among litter.
