S.meridionalis

Si tratta di Sphenophorus venatus vestitus, bestia nordamericana che si sta diffondendo per tutte le zone calde del Mediterraneo (Italia compresa).

Well,
S. meridionalis is smaller and shining-brown, since of course it shares with the other few Palaearctic species the usual characters of upper surface moderately scaled and not so coarsely even if not at all punctured. In addition, S. meridionalis is not recorded from Egypt in the volume 7 of the Catalogue of Palaearctic Coleoptera (also S. venatus vestitus is not recorded from that country, but it is obvious that the distribution of a quickly spreading species is at the moment surely underestimated).
