Hello Jan, somewhat blurred this photo, especially at the critical points. It seems difficult to decide one even for the male / female. But the specimens are very similar to the genus Ebaeus (maybe E. flavicornis Er. 1840), and less to Hypebaeus. Kind Regards from Greece, ![]() ![]() George |

These herein at both sites, are all females (without pretarsal combs or appendages at elytral apex). Not suitable for safe identification . In males, the differences of the genera are evident: Ebaeus: - clear pretarsal comb (well visible at a magnification x40), - Two appendages at each elytral apex (the one small, the other large). Hypebaeus: -without pretarsal comb (or very small, barely visible at a magnification x100). - One appendage at each elytral apex. Furthermore, Hyp. flavipes, does not have as deep notch in the pygidium. |
