Hi Everyone,

This Aderid is from last week, Budapest, from a very warm and dry mountain. I think we do not have this species here, yet.

Any idea?

This specimen is quite similar to female Anidorus nigrinus, but
1) temple is much shorter than eye in dorsal view (Anidorus nigrinus: temple much longer and protruding)
2) antennomeres 3 and 4 subequal in length (Anidorus nigrinus: antennomere 3 is much longer than 4)

With these features it would run in keys to Euglenes species, particularly to Euglenes nitidifrons. However, Euglenes oculatus and pygmaeus are very different, in colour pattern, punctuation, etc., and E. nitidifrons is not represented in the Hungarian Natural History Museum, so we cannot compare it.

Maybe this specimen is a teratological one...

In my view, this one is not Anidorus, and I would say it looks like Pseudolotelus punctatissimus (Reitter, 1885): http://nature.berkeley.edu/~mala/genera.html

I saw this post today, with a delay of 8 years.
But I must point out that Alexey is absolutely right, it is a male of Pseudolotelus punctatissimus (Reitter, 1885).
Just compared it with the specimens that are in my hands and come from Greece: they are absolutely the same.
Thus, the (very strange) geographical distribution of this species, now is: Croatia (according to Fauna Europaea), Greece and Hungary !!!
