 Even if not at home have enough photos with me  So here another Anthaxia (extremely common - collected couple of tens) extremely small (3-4 mm). Collected in 24.may.2010 in Peloponnese (37.854341/22.459604), two specimens here,if genitalia is needed just wait for few days to reach home. cosmln |

It is an Anthaxia in the funerula group, but it's very hard to identify the species. Perhaps A. chevrieri, but I am not sure. If you can send a photo of male genitalia, it's surely better! Where did you find them? On Spartium, Genista or other species? |

In attesa della foto dei genitali, confortato anche dal parere telefonico di Mr. Anthaxia, che è ancora in "sciopero del messaggio"  , possiamo solo identificarla come Anthaxia del gruppo funerula.

A.(s.str.)funerula (chevrieri): Elytra smooth with a silky sheen, just dots on the edges, the shield of the widest in the middle of the front.. A.(M.)nigritula: Elytra broad, with longitudinal rows of dots, shield widest in backcourt

will come with genitalia on this as soon possible. for now I'm in another town (for another two days) taking photos of Romanian butterflies for a guide that hopefully will appear next year. cosmln |

This is Anthaxia (Melanthaxia) tenella ssp. tenella Kiesenwetter, 1858. Melanthaxia nigritula ssp. nigritula (Ratzenburg, 1837) is from western Italy (including islands), south France and Spain. Melanthaxia nigritula ssp. martini Bristout de Barneville, 1883 is from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and (maybe) Libya. In Greece is present only Anthaxia tenella ssp. tenella Kiesenwetter, 1858, while Anthaxia tenella ssp. virgo Bily, 1980 is found in Turkey and probably NW Syria. |
