:hi:

testing with new way to put light on the subject and now I'm more satisfied with the results... will like to hear some inputs.

Eurythyrea aurata (Pallas, 1776) - female
collected with malaise trap in north Greece (41.377435/23.364554) between 26.june-3 july.2007, leg. Gordon Ramel.
killed directly with alcohol so was very hard to prepare the specimen, also at first I have mounted this on pin... glued now.

also will like to have a confirmation of the name.

I'd like to know how YOU did get this excellent result with a subject so difficult because of its shine!

Hello Cosmin, again.Yes,it is E.aurata, nice picture.About the light I'm not so sure, but maybe you need some more light from above as there can be seen a black spot in the middle,or to decrease the light from the lateral sides?

My same opinion (on species and light). However, it's quite impossible to avoid the dark spot in the middle with specimens like this one. The only way is using a very heavy diffusion of light, but in this way specimens seem very flattened and sculpture of the surface is not well discernible.

I subscribe with the above replies of your post. My only mention is to do some edit. In my opinion the picture is too bright. But, fortunately it contains all detailed info. So I afforded to open it in Photoshop and to check the level. And the black slider was out of range, as I expected. I just moved it and if you don't mind, I'll post my level setup and the result. I repeat, the picture is very good and accurate. It is very very hard to reproduce the real metallic shine of the insects in pictures.

Ooh. And one more thing. I know I did this too much time, but well, if killing the beetles in alcohol their muscles will be contracted and the annoying effect is the most of the beetles will have the elytra slightly opened. I know you know this too, but I wanted other especially young coleopterists to see and to learn to avoid the alcohol in killing adult specimens.
