Yes, on dead woods near the road... But I am not sure about the species. There were Abies and Fagus... Stéphane |

even being not a buprestid specialist ![]() ![]() secondary parasite of Abies cephalonica p.s. according to some greek naturalistic guides i have seen, pure Abies cephalonica still exists only in cephalonia island; elsewhere, repeated introductions of other Abies species resulted in extensive hybridisations and disappearance of pure populations |

Usually Buprestids are specific of a whole genus or few related genera of plants. So, for a Dicerca herbsti any species of Abies is good. Non è così importante per gli xilofagi. Di solito i Buprestidi sono specifici di un intero genere di piante o di più generi vicini. Quindi per una Dicerca herbsti va bene qualsiasi specie di Abies. |

Usually, the xylophagous buprestids can be found on cut trunks, if more trunks of the same tree species it is better. But the trunks MUST be under the direct sun exposition. It can be interesting to notice the time interval for every species. For example, one observation on a pile of trunks of Picea abies: Chrysobothris chrysostigma - between 11-15 (about 15 specimens) Anthaxia quadripunctata - between 11-14 (lot of specimens, over 30 - I didn't bother to count all) Buprestis haemorrhoidalis - between 12 - 15 (about 10 specimens) Eurythyrea austriaca - 12.30-13 (3 specimens - only females) There were 3 specimens of Chrysobothris affinis between 11-15 too, but accidentally landed, there were 2 trunks of Fagus sylvatica around. |
